Backend Engineer · Contract, three engagements

• Completed three separate engagements, returning to support ongoing development and production go-live. Built C# / ASP.NET Core backend services for pharmaceutical ordering, storage, dispatch and inventory workflows in a regulated environment

Card payments and telecoms provisioning

Backend Engineer · Contract

• Built .NET Core services for a remote card-payment platform supporting phone and payment-link transactions, integrating Opayo, Worldpay and Barclays Payment Services
• Also built a TypeScript / Node.js telecoms-provisioning service processing bulk CSV/XLSX data from Azure Blob Storage, with validation, account and service mapping, asynchronous provisioning via Azure Service Bus and persistence to PostgreSQL

Conversational document search and redaction on Azure AI

Lead Application Developer · Contract

• Designed and delivered an enterprise document-search and conversational platform using .NET and Azure AI services. Built SharePoint ingestion workflows using Azure Logic Apps and Azure Storage and implemented embeddings / vector retrieval across tens of thousands of internal documents using Azure AI Search
• Built the application using .NET APIs, SignalR and Cosmos DB-backed conversation history. Also delivered an automated PII-redaction system using Azure Document Intelligence, together with Angular / .NET user management, permissions and document-level access control. Education-sector booking platform

Contract Software Engineer

• Led design and development of .NET 6 REST APIs for an education-sector booking platform and built the initial Angular application while the dedicated front-end contractor was being recruited
• Implemented SQL Server geospatial candidate matching and designed passwordless authentication using SMS one-time codes plus JWT access and refresh tokens. Evaluated Auth0 and Microsoft Entra ID against projected scale and cost and rejected them where the commercial model was unsuitable. Applied TDD and xUnit alongside API testing

Cloud-based bond-investment platform

• Joined as Lead Developer to lead continued development and modernisation of the platform originally built at the lending business I founded, which evolved into a cloud-based bond-investment platform
• Remained closely involved in architecture, technical design and implementation while progressing through Development Manager to Head of Engineering. Held end-to-end responsibility for internally developed software from requirements and backlog through development, testing, release, support and production monitoring
• Helped grow the internal engineering team from one person to six while also managing a five-person offshore engineering team. Introduced CI/CD and helped drive Scrum adoption using Azure DevOps across pipelines, pull requests, branching and work-item management

Peer-to-peer lending platform

Founder / Solutions Architect, then Lead Architect after acquisition

• Founded the business and was the principal engineer behind the product, designing and building the majority of an Azure-hosted peer-to-peer lending platform from scratch
• Took the product from initial business idea through architecture, implementation and deployment into a working financial platform. Built across the complete system, including C#/.NET backend services, Angular customer applications and administration portals, database design, stored procedures and external API integrations
• Delivered loan administration, online bidding, lender and borrower dashboards and asset-backed lending workflows. The platform was subsequently acquired, and I continued maintaining and evolving it within the larger regulated financial-services organisation
